Moran Logistics began 20 years ago with just one man and a van operating out of a garage.
Having joined the army (Royal Engineers) at sixteen, serving for seven years, then working for a major retailer for fifteen years, Mr Moran began his own logistics company.
This has now grown into a multi-million-pound enterprise playing a vital role in feeding the nation, supporting the UK’s supply chain.
Harry Moran founded Moran Logistics with a simple but powerful vision: to provide transport and warehouse solutions centred on exceptional customer service. That founding principle still drives every business decision they make today.
Moran Logistics is a high-growth business built on long-term partnerships grounded in service, trust, loyalty, and commitment. Their first customer (Arla Foods) after twenty years has once again renewed their contract, further continuing their successful relationship.
Over the twenty years, their growth has been exceptional. By 2025, Moran Logistics achieved a turnover exceeding £100 million, cementing their position as one of the largest independently owned temperature-controlled logistics providers in the UK.
From humble beginnings — with one driver (Harry) and a van — the business now operates a fleet of over 400 lorries and 550 trailers across 19 UK-wide locations.
The warehousing footprint has continued to grow and now includes four strategically placed sites, offering more than half a million square feet of both chilled and ambient storage capacity.
At the core of this operation is a deep understanding of their customers business needs. No two solutions are alike and they are all individually tailored.
End-to-end logistics services across transport and warehousing — from storage, case picking and cross-docking, to co-pack, pallet consolidation, full load deliveries, and store deliveries, all supported by internal VMU’s. Services extend across the full supply chain, from food manufacturers to major retailers.
The team has also developed to accommodate the growth, with over 1,000 dedicated professionals, positively impacting local economies and communities along the way.
From starting with pen and paper, the business now leads the way with some of the most advanced systems in the industry. The state-of-the-art technology spans all areas of logistics, making Moran Logistics a highly competitive, forward-thinking leader in shaping the sector’s future.
So, what’s planned for the next 20 years?
The business remains committed to delivering excellence and being the best at what they do — always evolving, always growing, and always placing customers at the heart of everything they do. It’s the same mindset that was instilled by Harry from day one and is part of the company’s DNA now driven by CEO Mark Burrell and his experienced leadership team.
As a top five, chilled, privately owned business, Moran Logistics still pride themselves on being agile, flexible, and highly responsive to their customers’ needs. That adaptability and commitment to delivering excellence and value has served the business well — and will continue to do so in the years ahead.
Happy 20th birthday Moran Logistics
