A young company which specialises in the manufacture of healthy pet food is going from strength to strength with the help of Peterborough-based temperature-controlled specialist JS Davidson.
Boost’s expertise lies in producing human-quality food for dogs and cats – aiming to make its products accessible to all by providing frozen and ambient products at grocery prices.
Its range is proving so popular the business has expanded four times over in the last six months alone.
Boost Director Patrick Nestel described JS Davidson as the backbone of the success, adding that the company’s expertise and support had played a prominent role in its growth which is anticipated to continue on the same trajectory in the coming months, with Boost expanding its range and bringing on new customers.
JS Davidson oversees all the picking and packing for direct to consumer and trade deliveries, often packing a variety of temperature goods in the same box. Goods are picked for delivery overnight, with customers including three of the UK’s largest supermarkets.
Patrick said: “There are always headlines on ultra processed foods and our business is the antithesis of this. Everything we do is around low processing – we use cooking techniques which keep the nutrition in the product whereas other products are prepared so they can sit on a shelf for two years.
“We are in an emerging category – JS Davidson is now holding six or seven times more product for us than six months ago. We put this down to the fact that consumers themselves try to eat more healthily and they are cottoning on to the fact that Boost offers a healthier choice for their much-loved pets.”
He added: “The overarching aim of our business is to deliver great food at scale, making it accessible to everybody, and JS Davidson is a key part of that. We are in talks with more customers and also looking at exporting which will also be handled by JS Davidson.”
