Thermotraffic Ltd. has completed a major expansion of its Wrexham Distribution Centre, strengthening its temperature-controlled logistics network capacity for food producers, manufacturers, importers, exporters, retailers and other food-sector partners across the United Kingdom.
Completed on 28 September 2026 and operational from October 2026, the new automated cold store adds approximately 19,300 pallet spaces, equivalent to 48,000 tonnes. This brings the site’s total storage capacity to approximately 33,150 pallet spaces, or 77,000 tonnes.
The development is Thermotraffic Ltd.’s first automated warehouse. Its automated systems are designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance workplace safety and support reliable, high-quality logistics services. The expansion also includes a state-of-the-art production area, bringing storage, handling and value-added services together at one location.
Situated in a central UK region with a strong concentration of food-processing operations, the Wrexham site provides integrated cold-chain solutions, including frozen storage, transportation, import and export handling, freight forwarding and ocean freight services. The new production area supports a broad range of value-added services, including labelling, repacking, X-ray and metal detection, blast freezing, up-tempering, microwaving and, where agreed, order picking.
By combining additional storage capacity with on-site handling and value added production services, Thermotraffic Ltd. supports its customers in reducing unnecessary movements in the supply chain, maintain control over lead times and product quality, and respond more effectively to seasonal peaks and changing volumes.
Thermotraffic Ltd. will continue to invest in capacity, automation and value-added services in response to growing demand for temperature-controlled logistics. The Wrexham expansion further strengthens the company’s ability to provide end-to-end solutions and reinforces its position in the UK cold-chain logistics market.
