Brakes takes 70 new 7.2 tonners

Ashford, Kent, UK: Brakes has taken 70 new vehicles, including ten temperature-controlled 7.2 tonne Iveco Dailys.

The refrigerated trucks have Solomon bodies and Thermo King refrigeration, both to a Brakes’ specification.

Paul Vernon, head of fleet, Sysco GB (Brakes’ owner), said: “The unique offering provides the best of both worlds delivering a smaller tonnage vehicle with a great payload and mpg with added safety features supporting our aim to constantly improve the driver experience.”

The new vehicles have cameras covering the outside and inside of the body with flood lighting.

Solomon also modified the bodies to support the condenser and provided internal recesses to accommodate the refrigerant pipework. The Thermo King V500 units are under-mounted, but on runners to provide access for maintenance.

Thermo King dealer Marshalls Fleet Solution installed the refrigeration, cameras and temperature monitoring equipment.
