Brett Harrington appointed Technical Director at ISD Solutions

Coldstore construction experts ISD Solutions have announced the appointment of a new Technical Director in Brett Harrington, as the company continues to structure its next generation of leaders.

Mr Harrington, who has worked for the Gloucester-based industry experts since 2005, moves from his previous role as director of the company’s firewall division.

He will have technical oversight across all divisions, with overall responsibility for the design team as well as being first point of reference for stakeholders both inside and outside the business.

Mr Harrington’s promotion comes as the construction sector accommodates significant legislative and regulatory changes around safety, competence standards and compliance.

At the same time, technology and new products are making specification a key factor in the creation of the next generation of high-performing and sustainable buildings.

“It’s a landmark time in our industry,” said Brett, “as we progress towards an era in which responsibilities are more defined, collaboration is a watchword and where compliance and competence are not optional but essential.

“Certifications are changing almost daily and the new products on the market are providing opportunities for major innovations in the ways buildings are constructed.

“So it’s a great time to become technical director at ISD, and from a professional perspective, I’m really enjoying the responsibility.”

For several years Mr Harrington has been one of the leading fire safety experts in the fire protection industry, after becoming one of the first people worldwide to pass the new Level 3 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection from the Institution of Fire Engineers.

After starting his career as a trainee quantity surveyor he became an aircraft engineer and technician in the RAF, before joining ISD as a project manager in the Firewall Division 20 years ago.

Mr Harrington forms part of the Operational Board at ISD Solutions, along with Sales Director Andy Hudspith, Commercial Director Martin Taylor, Divisional Director Ryan Meecham and Divisional Director Adam Teague.

The group is supporting the ongoing development of ISD’s leadership team, strengthened by the deep experience of senior leaders Adrian Smith and Tony Wall, who together have many decades of expertise in coldstore design, construction and maintenance.

“We have big shoes to fill,” said Brett, “but as a group we cover all the bases necessary to ensure ISD continues to thrive and prosper.

“All businesses need to transition into their future selves. For me personally it’s a privilege to play a part in that process.”

The company is itself part of Gloucester-based The P & M Group, which includes PLG Insulations, ISD Australia and Midlands-based installations specialists S Tysoe Installations. Together the companies employ more than 190 staff.

Adrian Smith, Managing Director at ISD Solutions, said: “We’d like to congratulate Brett on his appointment and are entirely confident that his technical expertise and ability, combined with the experience from the rest of the ops board members, leaves ISD Solutions in excellent hands to support our clients with consistent, high-quality solutions for years to come.”

“The coldstore construction and maintenance sector is thriving, with many new opportunities arising from improvements in attitudes and better technology across every facet of the construction industry.

“People like Brett will shape the future of our sector. We’re delighted to formally recognise his talent and are certain that he will be a great success in his new role.”
