Carrier E-Cool recognised for innovation

Palm Beach, Florida, USA: Carrier Transicold’s Vector E-Cool is a finalist in the transportation category, of Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards.

Carrier Transicold’s Vector E-Cool, the first fully autonomous, all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system, was named a finalist in the Transportation category of Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards.

The Fast Company World Changing Ideas Awards announced today honour clean technology, innovative corporate initiatives, brave new designs for cities and buildings, and other creative works that are supporting the growth of positive social innovation, tackling social inequality, climate change and public health crises.

Carrier Transicold’s Vector E-Cool represents a “giant step forward” for transport refrigeration. The system converts kinetic energy generated by the trailer into electricity, which is then stored in a battery pack to power the refrigeration unit.

“When our customers choose the Vector E-Cool, rather than conventional diesel-powered transport refrigeration units, they are significantly reducing fuel consumption, particulate emissions and noise,” said Timothy White, president, refrigeration, Carrier Transicold.

“The Vector E-Cool system represents the future of refrigerated transport, making a positive impact on our people and planet by significantly reducing our customer’s carbon footprint.”

In 2021, Carrier’s Lynx digital platform was selected by Fast Company as a finalist in the Food category and an honourable mention in the Best World Changing Idea North America category, as part of the 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards.
