Cross Hands, UK: Castell Howell has fitted Rack Collapse Prevention’s safety system into its freezers. The move follows installing the system in its dry stores. The Rack Collapse Preventions system supports from the top, keeping racking structures upright in event of a collapse. The system uses cables suspended from the building’s structure. If a building’s structure cannot support these then a separate steel structure is fitted to act as the support.
Castell’s Rack Collapse Prevention was installed in two freezers to support 300 racking frames, 12m high and capable of storing up to 3,000 one-tonne pallets. Luke Harris, maintenance manager, Castell Howell, said: “Having understood its safety features and installing Rack Collapse Prevention’s safety system into our dry stores, the obvious next step was to install it into our freezers.
“Providing a safer working environment for our employees, as well as the added benefit of helping to reduce our insurance premiums, Rack Collapse Prevention’s safety system ticks every box and fits perfectly with our proactive health and safety policy and interventions,” he said.
