Manchester, UK: The Co-operative Group is installing Tempro Cold-Stop curtains made by Seymour Manufacturing International.
Tempro Cold-Stop insulated door curtain provides minimum energy savings of 25% in chillers to 33% plus in freezers
The Co-OP has trialled the curtains and identified annual savings over £130,000 and annual reduction in the store’s carbon footprint of over 500,000kg. Phases two and three of the trial are expected to produce further annual savings of over £1.5m and 6,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Nick Cairns, regional energy manager, Co-operative Group, says: “We were looking for a solution for our coldrooms that was highly energy efficient, practical, cost efficient, first quality and user friendly. In trials Tempro met and exceeded all these criteria. The roll out has been very well received by our colleagues in-store who like the look and feel of the product and the financial and environmental impact has been fantastic”.

The Tempro curtains were printed for the Co-operative Group by Steve Mills of George Barker & (Co) and installed by Northants Engineering Solutions.
