Creed takes Carrier’s direct drive

Ilkeston, UK: Creed Foodservice has taken three 12-tonne rigids with the UK’s first Carrier Transicold Xarios 8 multi-temperature fridges.

The direct drive Xarios units are fitted to Daf LF rigids with Gray & Adam bodies, supplied on contract hire by Petit Forestier.

The new Xarios 8 MT is the most powerful direct drive unit Carrier makes with all-new architecture to reduce weight and boost by 55% cooling capacity and heating capacity by 20% more than previous models.

“In the years we have been working with Carrier the team has developed a deep understanding of both our operational requirements and importantly our sustainability goals,” said Patrick Nayler, general manager, Creed Foodservice.

“We’re confident the powerful solution provided by the new Xarios 8 MT units will unlock long-term efficiency and sustainability gains, helping to future-proof against potential emissions regulations while also cutting fuel costs today.”

While other models in the range are traditionally specified for light commercial vehicles, the increased power of the new Xarios 8 MT now allows small to medium-sized trucks to benefit from the direct drive system. This removes the need for a standalone diesel engine and creates a lightweight, low-noise solution ideal for vehicles operating in urban areas.
