Birmingham, UK: The CV Show has been cancelled in the face of the coronavirus outbreak.
The show organisers, despite government advice that the public avoid uneccesary travel and large events, procrastinated before finally issuing a statement late today that show was cancelled.
Oddly, the show’s website made great play that it’s staff were working from home following government advice yet continued to claim the show would take place.
The CV Show was set for 28 to 30 April, about the time the experts believe could be close to the peak of the coronavirus infection.
Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, said on March 12 that he expects the UK would reach the peak of its coronavirus outbreak by about mid-May, and subsequently the Department of Health has advised that the peak, when 95% of the infections are expected to take place, is likely to be between late May and late June.
This is why there has been a steady increase in measures to limit social contact such as banning mass gatherings, closing schools, cancelling sporting events and encouraging people to work from home. The worst is almost certainly still to come in terms of the UK’s peak number of cases.
