Don-Bur’s Polar-Bur debut

Stoke-On-Trent, UK: Don-Bur’s Polar-Bur double-deck reefer makes its debut at TIP’s open day event at Stoke City FC.

The Polar-Bur, with a Thermo King Advancer A500 fridge from Marshall Fleet Solutions, was the first of two of these new trailer designs that TIP is offering.

The trailer suits single temperature frozen applications operating between +12 and -20°C, basically an ATP Class C specification.

The tri-axle trailer is 4.915m high and fitted with an aerodynamic EcoStream roof profile, which is claimed to reduce fuel consumption by between 10 and 16% depending on the route and environmental conditions. Don-Bur also estimates that when covering 80,000 miles per annum, the streamline roof of the Polar-Bur trailer also lowers CO2 output by an estimated 13 to 16 tonnes per annum.

“Being able to host the launch of the first temperature-controlled lifting deck trailer from Don-Bur was a significant coup for us and reflects the long-term relationship that we have with the trailer manufacturer. Looking at the comprehensive display of both trailers and vehicles from all the manufacturers exhibiting at the Bet365 Stadium, meant that the visitors to our open days were treated to an excellent selection of trailers that showcased some of the latest industry technology,” Mike Furnival, managing director UK and Ireland, TIP Trailer Services, said.

“With Don-Bur’s tried and tested expertise in lifting decks over the last 30 years, their Polar-Bur reefer trailer is a natural progression which allows TIP to offer its customers even further technologically advanced options with regards to the supply of high quality temperature-controlled trailers. It also goes some way to address the current general lack of available manufacturing capacity in the temperature-controlled marketplace,” Furnival said.

Don Bur’s latest, the Polar-Bur tri-axle trailer, is 4.915m high fitted with an aerodynamic EcoStream roof profile that will reduce fuel consumption by between 10 and 16% depending on the route and environmental conditions

Also of interest to temperature-controlled operators at TIP’s Open Day was Dennison Trailers concept Link trailer. Ut is designed for the UK market, but based on a design currently in use within certain European countries. The longer length trailer combination had an overall combined length of 25.25m including the tractor unit.

The front trailer is a sliding bogie skeletal chassis which can carry a 20’ container or 20’ swap body, whilst the rear trailer consisted of a 40’ gooseneck skeletal, which can carry a 40’, a 45’ or 2 x 20’ containers, depending on the operators preferred configuration.

Dennison said this concept trailer would also be available as a curtainsider dry freight box van or a refrigerated trailer.

Alongside the Polar-Bur trailer, were two other Don-Bur trailers including a 13.7 m teardrop curtainsider and a 13.6m fixed deck box trailer. Also on display at the TIP Open Day were two trailers from SDC, and two electric 3.1 tonne and 16 tonne Renault’s ZE electric trucks available for hire or lease through TIP company GrayRentals in Hull.

The TIP Open Days were delivered in partnership with Grayrentals, Don Bur, SDC, Dennison Trailers, Marshall Fleet Solutions, Thermo King Europe and Renault.
