DP World opens cold store in Zambia

Lusaka, Zambia: DP World owned Deep Catch Group, has opened a cold store in Lusaka, Zambia. The site is the first of its kind in the country providing much-needed cold storage.

Deep Catch provides cold storage in South Africa and Namibia and is now extending this to Zambia. Mohammed Akoojee, chief executive sub-Saharan Africa, DP World, said the new site will “play a vital role in driving economic growth and the seamless flow of goods in Zambia.”

The site has a bulk freezer section, chiller store, dry goods store, and a food processing area. Once fully operational, it will have a 5,500 pallet capacity.

Bruce Denyer, head of market access consumer: sub-Saharan Africa, DP World, said: “The development of the LCCS is in line with Deep Catch’s expansion strategy to establish a strong cold chain footprint in the Southern Africa Development Community region.”
