Rotterdam, Netherlands: The Global Cold Chain Foundation has launched the first Cold Chain Institute in Europe. The inaugural European course of this educational programme will bring together nearly 40 temperature-controlled logistics professionals from 10 European countries from 2 to 4 September 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Cold Chain Institute was created nearly 60 years ago by the Global Cold Chain Foundation, the research and education arm of the Global Cold Chain Alliance. In that time, the Institute has trained thousands of professionals working in the storage and distribution of perishable goods industry in North America, Latin America and Australia.
Julie Hanson, Europe director, Global Cold Chain Alliance, said: “Cold Chain Institute is a very comprehensive and hands-on training programme for attendees from every professional area in the cold chain sector.
“It provides the Institute’s students with unique knowledge and tools to enhance their individual specialty while developing a 360-degree understanding of the temperature-sensitive industry. We are proud to bring this fantastic educational opportunity to cold chain professionals in Europe, supporting talent and skills development in our crucial and growing industry.”
The Institute’s curriculum, developed and taught by field experts takes attendees through key areas of cold chain logistics management. It is tailored for current and potential cold chain engineers, supervisors and managers in operations, administration, engineering, IT and systems, construction, sales, marketing and HR.
The full cycle spans three years, with each year’s sessions delivered over three days, and concludes with a certificate recognising attendees’ skill advancement.
Joris Olbrechts, director, Jodifrost and Jogrex and chair of the GCCA European Logistics Council, said: “I attended the Cold Chain Institute myself and was impressed by the quality of the courses and instructors. Institute is an exclusive programme to learn directly from industry experts, but also with and from peers from various businesses and countries.
“One of the most valuable takeaways from this experience is the incredibly unique networking opportunities and relationships that can be built. I can only recommend this training programme to anyone involved in cold chain logistics who is eager to learn, develop their own skills and grow in their career.”
In 2024 the Cold Chain Institute received the Power of Associations Gold Award from the American Society of Association Executives.
A small number of spaces remain on the inaugural Cold Chain Institute course in Europe starting in Rotterdam on 2-4 September 2024.
