FreezPak Logistics to open Chicago cold store

Bedford, Illinois: FreezPak Logistics is constructing a 20,000sq metre cold store in Bedford, Illinois, to service the Midwest.

The temperature-controlled warehouse will have 30 loading docks, 30,000 pallet positions and 51 container plug-ins. The location will be near Interstate 55 and a CSX rail yard, aiming to service the Midwest cold supply chain.

The Chicago warehouse is the company’s eighth nationwide. In February, the company opened a 29,000sq metre cold store in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

FreezPak also has a 30,000sq metre cold store under construction in Miami to serve the southern Florida supply chain due to open in April and a coldstore under construction in Jacksonville, Florida, scheduled to open next year.

Once the Jacksonville site comes online in the first quarter of 2024, FreezPak says it can offer 315,000 frozen pallet positions in the company’s network.

“FreezPak remains committed to providing unmatched design in cold chain buildings while keeping the needs of the customer at the forefront of all we do,” Dave Soud, co-chief executive, said in a statement.

Founded in 2001, FreezPak Logistics is a family-owned company headquartered in Carteret, New Jersey. It currently operates five cold stores including four in New Jersey and one in Philadelphia.
