Reading, UK: The Cold Chain Leaders 2021 listing, sponsored by Thermo King and produced in association with the Cold Chain Federation, is available in full priced £150.

The report, highlights are shown in the September issue, sets out the top providers of temperature-controlled logistics services in the UK and Ireland with details of turnover, fleet size and strorage capacity.

This year’s listing shows that, once again, Culina had a very profitable year, with turnover up 29% to £1.1bn in 2020. Culina continued its acquisition trail over the last year with its purchase of GreenWhiteStar which included Eddie Stobart, Eddie Stobart Europe, I-Force, Pallet Network, and Logistics People.

NewCold also saw strong turnover growth, jumping by 16% to £14.5m while Buffaload and Edwards Transport both saw turnover rise by 15%. Many companies saw single-digit growth, including FreshLinc (3%), McCulla (Ireland), (7%), Turners (Soham), (8%) and Reed Boardall (9%).

Unsurprisingly, comments from the chief executives , which are included in the report, focus on the continuing effects of Brexit and coronavirus on their businesses.
