Gray & Adams and Sunswap for Samworth

Fraserburgh, Scotland: Gray & Adams and Sunswap are building reefers for Samworth Brothers following a trial earlier this year.

The trailers use battery and solar-powered refrigeration and will provide a third of Samworth’s 2024 fleet upgrade. By replacing trailers traditionally fitted with diesel powered fridges with Sunswap technology, the trial in effect removed significant nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide emissions from the tailpipe. The fridge also used solar energy to recharge not a plug in supply.

Gray & Adams said it expects to work with Sunswap on trailers for other customers.

Alistair Leckie, from Samworth Brothers said: “Following a successful trial, Samworth Brothers is looking forward to taking delivery of the new trailers. Having worked with Gray & Adams for many years, we trust them to supply quality products and give sound advice on innovative solutions that will support our business. The integration of Sunswap technology with Gray & Adams quality has been a great example of this, and we believe the partnership will bring significant environmental and commercial benefits to our business going forward.
