Kettering, UK: Bakery chain Greggs has submitted plans for a new national distribution centre at Symmetry Park in Kettering. The distribution centre will bolster the company’s capacity to supply ambient and chilled products to a growing portfolio of shops.
The planning application contains details for 311,551 sq ft of logistics space on a 25.1-acre plot. Designed to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard and achieving an EPC A rating, the site will meet Net Zero Carbon in Construction requirements, aligning with Greggs’ sustainability goals.
Greggs, which currently has 2,500 shops, wants to expand to over 3,000 shops in the UK.
Tritax Symmetry is also seeking planning permission for an additional 100,000 sq ft to allow Greggs to expand the site further. The park has outline planning permission for 2,310,000 sq ft of logistics floor space in total.
Greggs expects the centre to be operational in the first half of 2027, subject to planning permission.
