GSM Transport takes new Carrier Transicold Vector fridges

Annan, Scotland: GSM Transport has extended its long-standing relationship with Carrier Transicold, taking delivery of four temperature-controlled trailers mounted with Vector HE 17 units.

The Vector HE 17 is the latest addition to Carrier Transicold’s high efficiency range. GSM Transport selected the Vector HE 17 because of the system’s cooling performance, reduced noise and improved fuel consumption.

The fridges are on 13.6-metre Gray & Adams trailers and join a 33-unit fleet. They will deliver milk and dairy products in the UK daily as part of GSM Transport’s work with McQueens Dairies.

“Carrier Transicold has been a driving force in our trailer fleet for almost three decades now, with its products and aftersales service consistently delivering on all fronts for our business,” said Jim Morrison, owner of GSM Transport. “We have always been able to count on outstanding levels of performance and reliability from our existing Vector-equipped trailers, but with the promise of even better fuel economy from the new Vector HE 17, we were intrigued to see the results, especially given the trailers’ planned workload.”

The design of the Vector HE 17 means it can unlock a potential fuel saving of as much as 30%, when compared to the legacy Vector 1550, Carrier says

The design of the Vector HE 17 means it can unlock a potential fuel saving of as much as 30%, when compared to the legacy Vector 1550, Carrier says. This is in part due to its inverter technology, which constantly adapts the compressor speed to match cooling demand. The system also delivers a other benefits, including best-in-class cooling capacity output of above 16kW and a 6dB (A) noise reduction. Additionally, at 720kg, it ranks among the lightest products in its category.

Sharing a similar build architecture to the flagship Carrier Transicold Vector HE 19, the new Vector HE 17 also includes the company’s celebrated E-Drive technology. The technology results in improved efficiency, whether plugged into the grid at a depot or running electrically on the road via an alternative power source, such as a Carrier Transicold trailer-mounted battery pack or a tractor-driven Eco-Drive module that converts power directly from the truck’s own engine.

“The reliability, efficiency and sustainability benefits of the Vector HE 17 make it an ideal match for customers such as GSM Transport, who are on the road every day of every week,” said Andy Barnes, Key Account Manager, Carrier Transicold UK. “GSM Transport is always looking to adopt the latest technology to improve their operations, and it’s an absolute pleasure to continue our longstanding relationship.”
