GXO has been recognised as one of the top 10 apprenticeship employers in the country in the department for education’s (DfE) 2025 rankings.
The list of 100 leading apprenticeship employers in England, places GXO Logistics at seventh, above Whitbread, McDonald’s and PwC.
The rankings recognise and celebrate companies for their overall commitment to employing apprentices, and the diversity of the apprentices they take on.
Catering and hospitality company Mitchells & Butlers was placed number one, followed by BAE Systems.
Gavin Williams, GXO MD for UK and Ireland, said: “I’m incredibly proud that our outstanding apprenticeship programmes have been recognised by the department for education.
“We now offer more than 55 apprenticeship pathways, and we’ve recently launched new programmes focused on upskilling our colleagues in technology, automation, AI, and robotics.
“As technology continues to transform the logistics sector, closing the skills gap is more important than ever.
“With over 1,100 apprentices currently enrolled, we’re committed to helping our people grow their skills and build rewarding careers, and I’d like to congratulate many of our customers who share our commitment and are recognised in the top 100.”
The education secretary Bridget Philipson said: “Congratulations to all the employers recognised for their outstanding apprenticeship programmes.
“They are delivering the skilled workforce we need to deliver our number one mission to grow the economy, and breaking down barriers for young people across the country.”
“For the first time, the voices of apprentices themselves were front and centre in showcasing where employers are raising the bar in quality and experience.
“These rankings are a testament to what can be achieved when businesses invest in people, and the transformative power of apprenticeships in delivering our Plan for Change.”
