Mallusk, Northern Ireland: Food wholesaler and retailer Henderson Group, which has acquired Newry food distribution firm Independent Catering Services (ICS), is consolidating the distribution at Mallusk, Co Antrim.
The acquisition gives Henderson a firm foothold in the southern market as ICS supplies to caterers across Ireland. ICS has a turnover of over £10m.
Damien Barrett, managing director of Henderson Foodservice, said: “Consolidating distribution onto our Mallusk site enables us to streamline the business, share resources and reduce running costs in general. There is obvious synergy between our two companies and this acquisition will bring added value to the ICS customer base through our chilled and frozen capability and additional product ranges whilst ICS’s strength in the southern Irish market will add a new dynamic to our customer network”.
