HSH Coldstores plans Grimsby cold store refurb

Grimsby, UK: HSH Coldstores, supported by UMC Architects, has submitted a full planning application to North East Lincolnshire Council for development on the 11.5-acre Estate Road 2 site at South Humberside Industrial Estate.

The site is currently occupied by Associated Cold Stores and Transport, which HSH acquired last year. Planning permission is sought for the demolition of the existing buildings on the site and construction of a new temperature-controlled storage facility with associated offices.

The proposed unit would comprise about 12,000sq metres of warehouse and cold storage space, together with 3,800sq metres of office space over three storeys. The plans also include 231 car parking spaces and eight electric vehicle charging points. The site would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, employing about 225 full-time equivalent staff.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: “The proposal represents a high-quality redevelopment of the existing site and represents a substantial investment to the area and will help to promote and support employment growth and stimulate economic regeneration to the area, cohesive with regional and local aspirations.

“It is anticipated that the development will act as a catalyst for further regeneration to create a number of new jobs and inject much needed investment into the local community.”
