The expertise of Peterborough-based temperature-controlled solutions specialist and Cold Chain Federation member JS Davidson is reaping dividends for one of the UK’s newest pet food manufacturers.
Boost pet food specialises in fresh, human quality food for dogs and cats. With no preservatives and fillers in its food the majority of its products are sold frozen, with a complementary selection of ambient products.
As the first company in the UK to bring a range of healthier meals to supermarket shelves, Boost was in need of a trusted, reliable partner which understood the needs of the business and tailored its solutions to ensure the best possible service.
Boost Director Patrick Nestel said: “We spoke with a number of 3PLs and transport businesses but as an emerging, fast-growing supplier of frozen fresh pet food we were looking for a company that really understood our needs and could add value to help us in our growth.
“It isn’t ideal to have one supplier handling your e-commerce, another handling your frozen range and another handling your ambient and JS Davidson is an ideal trusted partner to enable us to handle our range all under the one roof.”
As part of the agreement JS Davidson handles storage & distribution for Boost and picks and packs the orders. Specialist requirements might include inserting leaflets into the orders and picking for a tailored meal plan. The Items are then delivered direct to the customer.
JS Davidson also manages the delivery operation into major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Waitrose, M&S, Waitrose and Co-op to support Boost’s continuing presence within this sector.
Patrick Nestel praised JS Davidson for its pro-active approach and for formulating cost-effective solutions which bring benefits to both businesses.
He also highlighted Davidson’s flexibility which allowed Boost to meet the individual requirements of each of the supermarket chains.
He said: “Since we started working with Davidson’s 12 months ago the relationship has continued to evolve and blossom due to their performance. Over the next 12 months we are continuing to focus on customers in the grocery sector to enable pet owners to pick up our pet foods as part of their grocery shopping and the commitment and expertise of JS Davidson is imperative in helping us to achieve our business goals.”
John Davidson, Managing Director of JS Davidson, said: “The Boost ethos is very similar to that of JS Davidson. Just as we tailor our offering to suit each of our customers and to add value their businesses, so Boost seeks to do the same with theirs.
“We have had an excellent 12 months with the company, taking on more work as demand has grown for their products. We look forward to helping Patrick and his team achieving their next goal of further extending its presence in the grocery sector over the next 12 months.”
