Lineage Logistics enters Spanish cold storage market

Novi, Michigan, USA: Lineage Logistics has made its first foray into the Spanish cold storage sector, acquiring refrigerated warehousing and storage company Frigorificos de Navarra (Frinavarra) and a coldstore in Gijón.

Frinavarra is based in Milagro (Navarra), Spain, and operates refrigerated warehousing and storage, also providing blast freezing, tempering, and modified atmosphere storage services. It has nearly 20m cubic feet of capacity.

Lineage’s acquisition of Frinavarra also involved the purchase of a cold storage warehouse in Gijón, Spain from Frioastur.  Originally built in 1963, the site spans one million cubic feet of capacity and provides cold storage, handling, picking and transport.

“Lineage’s entry into the Spanish cold storage market with these acquisitions marks another exciting milestone in our ongoing growth journey,” said Mike McClendon, Lineage’s president of international operations. “These new facilities expand our global offering in an important market for our customers and provide Lineage with future opportunities for continued expansion throughout Europe and beyond.”

With its entry into the Spanish market, Lineage now owns and operates in 16 countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
