McGregor Logistics sold in pre-pack administration deal

Doncaster, UK: McGregor Logistics has been acquired out of administration n a pre-packaged deal, with 79 jobs safeguarded.

McGregor Logistics, which listed temperature-controlled deliveries in the UK and Western Europe among its services, had appointed Insolvency practitioners at Forvis Mazars in Manchester and London to handle the administration.

McGregor faced financial difficulties after losing major contracts and incurring high operational costs. The administrators said the business had experienced cash flow issues which ultimately meant it had to enter administration.

A sale of the majority of the company’s business and assets has been bought by an unnamed third-party logistics group, which has safeguarded the jobs of 79 employees, although 23 staff face redundancy.

The company has bases in Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Peterborough and Tilbury. The website says it runs “dual-temperature trailers and on-board temperature recording equipment”.

Patrick Lannagan, business restructuring partner at Forvis Mazars, told the press: “While it is regrettable that there had to be a limited number of redundancies, the sale is a positive development for the business’ transferring employees, its customers and other stakeholders and we wish the business and its new owners every success in the future.”
