Castle Donington, UK: Moran Logistics has added 15 new Volvo FM 460 6×2 tractors to its fleet. The new FMs – which meet Transport for London’s 3-star Direct Vision Standard rating – will be used for multi-drop delivery operations in urban areas.
Supplied by Hartshorne Group, the trucks join a 250-truck fleet, a fifth of which is Volvos. Mark Burrell, chief executive, Moran Logistics, said: “Our team carefully reviewed three other options in the marketplace but due to the quality, safety and environmental benefits we once again selected Volvo as our trusted partner for this latest order.”
The Volvo FMs have 460hp engines and Volvo’s 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox. The vehicles have reverse and passenger side mirror cameras, as well as forward collision warning with advanced emergency braking and lane departure warning systems.
As well as its multi-drop delivery work, Moran Logistics will also use the FMs for trunking work. All the new trucks are covered by Volvo maintenance and repair contracts and are expected to operate for five years, doing 100,000 miles a year.
