NewCold expands Rheine, Germany coldstore

Rheine, Germany – NewCold is spending €60m expanding its automated warehouse in Rheine, Germany.  “This expansion will boost our ability to serve our existing and new customers in the German market,” said Frank Huckschlag, chief operating officer, NewCold.

“We see growing demand for 24/7 high-level service, efficiency, and scale that allows customers to benefit from consolidation. Our facility in Rheine is expanding to meet that demand.”

Earlier this year construction began of a new high bay, low bay, and office building totaling 8,000 square meters. The expansion will add 30,000 pallet positions, increasing NewCold’s total capacity in Germany to over 100,000 pallet spaces. The project also includes refurbishment of existing offices, an extension of the shipping department, and a new driver processing site with completion expected in spring 2024.

The coldstore will have the latest in sustainability and food safety including on-site solar power generation that will provide renewable energy, NewCold says.
