Oakland International has transformed its own renewable energy expertise into a new customer offering, launching a specialist solar panel cleaning service through its Oakland Environmental division following investment in advanced robotic cleaning technology.
As a family-owned business with sustainability embedded throughout its operations, Redditch-based Oakland International has invested significantly in solar energy across its sites. Seeking to maximise renewable energy generation and reduce maintenance costs, the company developed an in-house solution that is now being offered to commercial, agricultural and domestic customers.
The launch comes as organisations increasingly look to improve energy resilience, reduce costs and increase renewable power generation.
Strategic Development Manager Peter Vaughan explains: “Oakland International has invested significantly in renewable energy across its sites, so ensuring those systems operate at peak efficiency is essential.
“Through Oakland Environmental, we’ve developed the expertise and technology to support our own sustainability goals, and we are now able to support other businesses to maximise the performance of their solar installations.”
From Internal Solution to Customer Service
Solar panels can accumulate dust, bird droppings, moss, lichen and other debris that reduce efficiency. Regular cleaning can improve energy output by between 5% and 10% on lightly soiled systems, helping maximise renewable energy generation and protect long-term asset value.
Oakland International’s service uses the latest robotic cleaning systems, motorised brushes and specialist equipment to deliver a more effective and environmentally responsible approach than traditional cleaning methods. Unlike many providers that offer solar cleaning as a sideline service, Oakland’s dedicated solution has been developed through managing its own renewable energy assets, giving customers access to proven expertise as well as specialist equipment.”
Open for Business
Available to commercial, agricultural and domestic customers, the service is designed to help solar operators maintain peak performance and improve renewable energy efficiency throughout the year.
Peter added: “This is a natural progression for Oakland International. We developed this capability to support our own sustainability goals and quickly recognised its wider value. Now we’re helping other businesses and solar operators maximise the return from their renewable energy investments.”
