Ocado Retail CCO to exit after less than two years

Ocado Retail chief commercial officer (CCO) Amit Chitnis is departing from his position after joining the business in December 2023.

The executive joined Ocado Retail from Tesco, where he served under various roles for a decade, most recently as its UK grocery director.

He started as the UK’s biggest supermarket’s head of group strategy in 2014, before going on to lead retail operations at Tesco’s west London convenience stores and serve as category head of cooking ingredients and global grocery.

Chitnis was named as director of trading at Booker Wholesale, a subsidiary of Tesco, in 2020.

Suppliers were notified of Chitnis’ departure by Ocado Retail boss Hannah Gibson this week, The Grocer reported.

Ocado Retail director of commercial development George Dean has been named as the company’s interim CCO, with Gibson ensuring that the move would “ensure a seamless leadership transition, as he brings a wealth of commercial experience and strong, strategic leadership”.
