Bristol, UK: Paneltex has built a box body for catering ice supplier Jam Inns Ice, based on an Isuzu 3.5-tonner.
It is Jam Inns’ first foray into designed-for-purpose bodies as well as Jam Inns’ first Paneltex build. The vehicle delivers some 10 tonnes of ice daily.
The body uses “best in class insulated panels”, sufficiently lightweight to maintain the payload. A GAH SRF351 freezer with standby maintains its frosty cargo at -20°C.
James Maloney, director, Jam Inns, worked with Paneltex design engineers to create an easy-to-use, innovative design out of high-quality, rigorously tested materials.
Described by Maloney as a “total game changer” and a “completely different experience,” the intuitively designed vehicle box includes a full internal pallet protection system, a lockable sack barrow holder integrated into the nearside rear door and the rear frame, as well as a stow-in-the-roof movable internal bulkhead that allows the creation of two distinct temperature-controlled compartments.
After the delivery, Maloney waxed lyrical about the vehicle, letting the Paneltex team know that “I picked up the new truck on Friday and I just wanted to give some feedback … I love it! Honestly I think the build quality you’ve done on this freezer unit is exceptional. All the little details on here are really excellent quality.”
