Lyon, France: Renault Trucks and electric cargo bike maker Kleuster, are to make and sell Freegônes e-cargo bikes.
Renault Trucks’ will make and distribute the bikes trucks as a ‘last mile’ delivery solution to its electric vehicle range.
Kleuster launched the Freegônes e-cargo bike 8 years ago. The tie with Renault will increase production volumes five fold. Nearly 200 Freegônes are currently in service in France, some for more than 7 years.
“E-cargo bikes can be a great option for customers in urban environments that need to access zero emissions zones. Through this partnership with Kleuster, Renault Trucks is differentiating itself and taking the lead in offering even better solutions to our current and future clients,” Bruno Blin, president, Renault Trucks, says.
The bikes have an 80km range and five body types; dry, refrigerated, food service, flat bin, and refuse. The Freegônes dry box has a 350kg payload and 2m3 of useful volume. The Freegônes refrigerated box is the only e-cargo bike to offer ATP-approved temperature control ranging from -25°C to +4°C.
