Melton Mowbray, UK: Samworth Brothers has promoted chief commercial officer Simon Wookey to the role of chief executive after Hugo Mahoney decided to leave the company after two years in post.
Mahoney is leaving Samworth “to pursue other opportunities”, according to a statement. He joined the company as chief executive in 2022.
Wookey joined Samworth in 2019 as a group executive board director. He spent 20 years at food-to-go business Greencore, holding a number of senior commercial and managing director positions.
Wookey is set to take over the reins from 1 July after a transition period.
Samworth Brothers Supply Chain, part of Samworth Brothers, provides temperature-controlled distribution services to companies within the Samworth Brothers Group, as well as to many external chilled food manufacturers, retailers and other distributors.
