A groundbreaking partnership forged at Cold Chain Live 2024 has resulted in KDM Solutions, a Scarborough-based cold store manufacturer, becoming the first in the UK to deploy an all-electric Thermo King Advancer A500E unit in their cold storage solutions.
The collaboration, which began with a chance conversation between Kevin Chapman, Managing Director of KDM Solutions, and Jon Jerrard-Din, National Account Manager, Themo King, at the industry event, has culminated in a significant leap forward for sustainable cold storage technology.
KDM Solutions, renowned for its comprehensive end-to-end aftersales packages, has opted for a robust setup, including a 5-year extended warranty and 5 years of Thermo King TracKing telematics. This advanced telematics system allows KDM to remotely monitor unit performance, adjust temperature settings, and initiate defrost cycles, adding significant value to their service offering.
The Thermo King A500E, a cutting-edge electric refrigeration unit, has been praised for its efficiency and environmental credentials. Following initial testing, Chapman expressed his satisfaction, stating, “The thermal properties of our cold store are complimented by the efficiency of the Thermo King A500E” and “the Thermo King 48V DC mild hybrid technology has enabled KDM solutions to manufacture a cold store that meets required legislation for low voltage applications.”
Jon Jerrard-Dinn commented, “Working with KDM on this project has enable Thermo King to demonstrate that our Advancer unit is not just about reduced fuel consumption, which this project highlights”.
