Schmitz expands its telematics

Ulm, Germany: Users of Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect can now access Transporeon’s real-time visibility data management system.

Operators using the system can provide their customers with order-relevant data in a controlled and secure manner.

The partnership with Transporeon and its Visibility Hub means Schmitz TrailerConnect users have the option of transmitting selected telematics and transport data of their own fleet and that of their partners to real-time visibility platforms via one-click. Users retain full control over their data and can easily select what to share with third parties in real-time. Since 2018, Schmitz Cargobull has equipped all its trailers with telematics as standard.

“We see our partnership with Transporeon as another step forward in controlled transparency in logistics,” says Marnix Lannoije, head of product line digital services, Schmitz Cargobull.

“With the Data Management Center, freight forwarders have full ownership over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in a targeted and deliberate manner.” By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, journey and commission more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transferred to third-party systems at the push of a button,” he said.

“Having real-time access to accurate transportation data has never been more important for logistics businesses and, as the largest provider of best-in-class real-time data integrated with transport execution, we’re well placed to deliver in-depth insights,” said Jesper Bennike, chief product officer, Transporeon.

“Combining Schmitz Cargobull’s vehicle data with our real-time visibility data will enable our algorithms to provide even more accurate ETA predictions. Customers will get full value from telematics data without the risk of unauthorised third-party access and uncontrolled dataflow, making this partnership a match made in heaven.”
