Schmitz partners with Trimble on data management

Horstmar, Germany: Schmitz Cargobull has partnered with Trimble, a provider of GPS and communication software, to allow customers to better use data from trailers and fridges.

Integration of the Trimble system with Schmitz Cargobull’s Data Management Center provides Trimble customers with an overview of truck and trailer data on one platform without the need to install additional hardware.

This allows important truck and trailer data to be automatically transferred to and displayed on Trimble’s platform. The integration also offers the possibility to send the data to the end customer’s transport management system, which improves their logistics and dispatching processes.

Sören Danielsen, manager strategy and business development, Schmitz Cargobull, said: “With the Data Management Center, hauliers have full control over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in an efficient way.

“By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, tour and order, more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button in future. The TrailerConnect Data Management Center stands for connectivity and transparency. Everyone involved along the supply chain benefits from this.”

Since 2018, Schmitz Cargobull has fitted all trailers with its TrailerConnect telematics as standard.
