SMMT highlights temperature-controlled transport decarbonising

London, UK: The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has highlighted efforts by temperature-controlled transport operators to decarbonise and electrify their fleets.

The article on the society’s weekly newsletter flags up efforts by Manfreight, Freshlinc, Brakes, and Asda; using equipment from Solomon Commercials, Carrier Transicold, Volvo, GAH , Schmitz Cargobull, Gray & Adams, and Paneltex, to reduce the environmental impact of their operations.

Manfreight recently took delivery of the first Schmitz Cargobull S.KOe Cool fully electric semi-trailer paired with a Volvo FM Electric. Freshlinc has taken delivery of 60 Carrier Transicold Vector-equipped trailers, alongside two new tractor units mounted with Eco-Drive systems on Gray & Adams trailers. Brakes has put into service its first Daf LF Electric with Frigoblock fridge for multi-temperature operation. Asda is trialing an electric home delivery vehicle, based on a Maxus Deliver 9 chassis cab modified by Paneltex.
