Boston, Lincolnshire, UK: Staples Vegetables is to upgrade its reefer trailers with Sunswap fridges.
Staples Vegetables reefers are chiefly used to transport brassica crops from its headquarters in Lincolnshire.
The decision to use Snswap follows a 12-day trial in July, using Sunswap’s solar and battery-powered Endurance to fulfil Staples Vegetables’ delivery cycles. This was done using a standard-speed charger and a 4 (out of a possible 6) module battery.
As well as the environmental benefit, there are key financial advantages to Staples’ investment, as it will reduce its 10-year total cost-of-ownership by 27%, and operational expenditure by 78%, Sunswap said.
