London UK: Sysco has won the Sustainable Wholesaler of the Year award at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors Awards. The judges cited Sysco’s “holistic approach to sustainability” for its success.
The decarbonisation of its fleet, renewable energy expansion, plant-based food programmes and its community support programme were among the key reasons that saw Sysco GB scoop the Gold Medal for Sustainable Wholesaler of the Year.
Pete Statham, head of sustainability and government relations, said: “We’re incredibly proud that our fellow wholesalers have recognised our sustainability programme. Winning this prestigious award highlights how integral sustainability has become to our business.
“While we’ve taken the lead and driven the sustainability agenda through our own initiatives, we’ve also worked in partnership with our suppliers, as collaboration is critical to ensuring that we get maximum environmental benefit and create long-term change.”
