With just one month to go until the Worcester City Runs 10K and Half Marathon this September, a determined team from Bluseal Doors is stepping up to the challenge to raise vital funds for Leukaemia Care.
Bluseal, based on the Blackpole Trading Estate in Worcester, is the market-leading supplier and installer of industrial and insulated doors. This year, they have entered a team of runners to support Leukaemia Care – their near neighbours on the same trading estate – after one of their own was affected by the disease.
Among the runners is Tom, who is tackling the Half Marathon in honour of his dad, Tony, a Factory Supervisor at Blueseal, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in May this year. Both Tom and Tony are long-standing members of the Bluseal family, having worked at the company for 11 and 13 years respectively.
Tony is currently undergoing an intensive treatment plan – four months of cancer treatment at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, followed by two months of bone marrow treatment in Birmingham. His journey inspired the team at Bluseal to channel their energy into raising awareness and funds for Leukaemia Care, which provides essential early diagnosis campaigns, information, advice, treatment guidance and emotional support to people living with leukaemia and their families.
Steve Spencer, Managing Director at Bluseal, said:
“We wanted to do something to show our support for Tony, and at Bluseal, we love a challenge – so the Worcester 10K and Half Marathon was the perfect event. I’d like to thank the suppliers and supporters who have already donated so generously to this cause.”
Zoe Makings, Challenge Events Manager at Leukaemia Care, added:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Team Bluseal for taking on this challenge for us. Every step they take will help us support more people like Tony, ensuring they have access to the information, advice and emotional help they need during one of the toughest times of their lives. We wish them all the best for race day!”
The Worcester City Runs take place on Sunday, 14th September, with the city centre set to come alive with runners, supporters, and community spirit.
