Thermo King expands council on future of electrification

Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA: Thermo King is expanding an industry council that it launched to help develop a roadmap to an all-electric transport industry.

It is now looking for new members to join the council: they will have the opportunity to join in polls, surveys, chat room discussions, expert webinars and focus groups about a variety of key topics related to the future of electrification in products, markets, and their unique operational needs.

“Reducing our customers’ carbon footprint and adding value to their operations is fundamental to our strategy, and electrification is the best way to achieve this goal,” said Paul Kroes, Strategic Insights Leader, Thermo King Americas.

“The transport industry’s transformation to electrification will be a generational change – establishing this council will ensure the voice of our customers is clear in all stages of our product design and innovation as we refine short and long-term roadmaps.”

The council is an online community made up of transport companies with various-sized fleets, including refrigerated and mixed-load trucks and trailers for long-haul, mid-mile and last-mile. The group’s insight is said to be helping create a “clear and comprehensive future view of the product design requirements needed when transitioning to all-electric fleets”.

“This platform provides members a unique opportunity to share their perspective on trends that are shaping the industry like electrification and the barriers that need to be addressed such as infrastructure, cost, and range. They are also learning from their peers and staying current on other industry trends,” Kroes said.
