Hanover, Germany: Thermo King used the IAA Transportation 2024 show in Hannover, to unveil new models in the E-Series electric fridge range for small to large trucks.
On show are the electric Advancer-e Spectrum multi-temperature trailer fridge, alongside digital and power management systems that enhance performance. This includes the Thermo King AxlePower energy recovery and management system, as well as Energ-e and E-coolpac battery.
solutions.
“Our fully electric and hybrid product lineup at the IAA marks another pivotal moment following the fulfilment of our commitment to deliver electric products in every segment of the cold chain by 2023,” said Claudio Zanframundo, president Thermo King EMEA.
“Our investments in electrification, hybridisation and digitalisation propel the transformation of the cold chain, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and sustainability. We are leading the change with solutions that meet the dual demands of environmental responsibility and operational excellence. This vision fuels our innovation delivering exceptional value to our customers and the planet.”
Thermo King Advancer-e Spectrum multi-temperature units mark a significant milestone in sustainable, all-electric trailer refrigeration, Thermo King says. “The A-500e Spectrum model offers unparalleled flexibility allowing for precise multi-zone temperature control across various cargo types, responding to the needs of complex delivery routes with varying temperature settings.
“The engineless, advanced design of the Advancer-e Spectrum not only ensures whisper-quiet, emission-free operations, perfect for urban and late-night deliveries, but also significantly enhances fleet efficiency through fast pulldown and rapid temperature recovery.”
The unit is compatible with multiple power sources, including AxlePower self-charging energy recovery system, E-Coolpac or Energ-e battery-packs, and truck PTO’s. This ensures Advancer-e is future-proof and provides fleets with a robust, adaptable trailer refrigeration that meets today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges.
“The introduction of Thermo King Large Truck E-Series units, with a full offering of high cooling capacity models in both single and multi-temperature configurations, represents a leap forward in the electric refrigeration for trucks between 7.5–26 tonnes. Engineered to deliver unparalleled efficiency and sustainability, these units enhance operational capabilities on both battery electric and engine-powered vehicles, and can also operate independently, powered by the E-Coolpac battery pack,” Thermo King says.
Catering specifically to vans and light commercial vehicles up to 12m3, the new Thermo King E-100e and E-200e units are compact, lightweight using aluminium to reduce weight and maintenance costs while ensuring easy installation across various vehicle types, Thermo King says.
“Our 2024 IAA showcase highlights the latest in electrified transport refrigeration and our commitment to delivering tangible benefits for our customers’ and their entire fleet lifecycle,” Claudio Zanframundo said.
“AxlePower, now launched across EMEA, is a prime example. This technology can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 12 tonnes per year for distribution trailers. AxlePower-ed trailers have covered over 950,000 km, generating over 46,500 kWh while on the road. Many of them, in very cold to hot ambient conditions from the north of Europe to South Africa, have relied solely on this power generation system without needing shore power. And that’s just a glimpse of what’s already on the road,” said Claudio Zanframundo.
“Thermo King’s dedication goes beyond just equipment. – We provide a full suite of services to maximise uptime, sustainability, savings, and operational control. From connectivity to manage fleets and cargo from anywhere, to customizable service agreements, performance upgrades, and 24/7 support of our global dealer network, we keep our customers’ vehicles not only on the road, but performing at their best,” concluded Claudio Zanframundo.
