Lusaka, Zambia: Transaid supporters Samworth Brothers Supply Chain, and Fagan and Whalley, have donated two trucks to boost driver training in Zambia.
The trucks were serviced and fitted with the cameras and telematics systems, donated by Brigade Electronics and Microlise, to help Transaid train hundreds of new and existing truck drivers in Zambia as part of the partnership between Transaid and the Industrial Training Centre. Since 2008, together more than 22,000 drivers have been trained.
Ian Cooper, regional fleet manager, Samworth Brothers Supply Chain, said: “This is the fourth training vehicle we have donated, and we are proud to see it supporting such a great cause. Working with Transaid has been a very positive experience for us and I am looking forward to seeing how the additional in-cab technology will improve the student experience.”
Sam Fagan, managing director, Fagan & Whalley, said: “Our partnership with Transaid has been very natural because our values are so well aligned. Working with them to extend our goal of having safer roads beyond the borders of the UK has meant a great deal to us.”
