Turning food waste into fuel

Lisburn, Northern Ireland: McCulla Ireland Transport has long been on a mission to remove fossil fuels from its fleet. In 2021, this dream became a reality, the company says.

“We now have a fleet of gas-powered trucks that run on 100% renewable bio-methane gas, which we produce on-site using food waste collected from businesses across Northern Ireland.

“At our state-of-the-art biogas plant, we use world-class manufacturing standards to convert food waste into electricity to power our cold stores and natural biogas to fuel our trucks.”

In this video McCulla explains how the operation works and its benefits.
