UK manufacturer Sunswap enters second continent with Chile launch

Sunswap, British manufacturer of battery and solar-powered transport refrigeration, today announced its Latin American market entry through a distribution partnership with Chilean operator Trailerlogistics.

Endurance, the first purpose-built electric transport refrigeration unit, is trusted every day by major retailers and operators including Tesco, Muller, DFDS, TIP Group, and Birds Eye. Combining battery storage with integrated solar panels to deliver zero direct emissions across frozen, chilled and multi-temperature applications. Commercial deployments have validated operating cost reductions up to 81% compared to diesel equivalents, with total cost of ownership savings reaching 34% over a five-year period.

Chile’s solar intensity creates optimal conditions for the technology. Analysis shows solar panels can contribute up to 80% of energy needs in Chilean operations. This reduces grid charging dependency and lowers operating costs below what’s achievable in cloudier climates.

Trailerlogistics brings local expertise and service infrastructure to support operators adopting the technology. They will provide technical support and aftermarket services to operators across the country.

“We’ve proven this technology across the UK, Europe and Australia with major retailers and logistics companies” said Michael Lowe, CEO of Sunswap. Now we’re deploying where the sun actually shines. Chilean operators get the same reliability we’ve proven in Europe, with fantastic economics due to solar performance. Trailerlogistics gives us the local expertise and service infrastructure essential for success in the Chilean market.”

“We’re bringing proven technology to a market that demands both environmental performance and operational reliability,” said Hernan Searle Ferrari, Owner/ MD

Trailerlogistics. “Chilean operators are sophisticated buyers who need solutions that work economically, not just environmentally. Operators across Chile can now access this technology with the support infrastructure needed for maximum uptime and confidence.”

Trials of Sunswap Endurance are underway in Chile with customer announcements expected soon.
