Northgate Mobility Group rebrands Blakedale and FridgeXpress signalling its connected proposition

Northgate Mobility has announced the rebranding of two businesses under its umbrella, in a move to unify brands, and strengthening its One Road/One Fleet customer service model.

Part of the ZIGUP plc group, Northgate Mobility brings together corporate vehicle hire, fleet management, insurance replacement vehicles and claims management services, and specialist vehicle expertise under one connected proposition. Built on a Customer First approach, Northgate Mobility simplifies complexity by giving customers a single point of access to the full vehicle lifecycle, supported by specialist teams and nationwide coverage.

With a fleet of around 60,000 vehicles across 63 UK and Ireland locations, including specialist traffic management and temperature‑controlled vehicles, Northgate Mobility combines scale, flexibility, and deep expertise to support customers today and evolve with them into the future, and as part of ZIGUP, it has direct access to one of the largest nationwide bodyshop and recovery operations, supporting customers at times of need.

Northgate Highways (formerly known as Blakedale), a traffic management specialist and the UK’s leading supplier of traffic management and support vehicles, will continue to be led by Jon Taylor.

Headquartered in Chorley, Lancashire with locations up and down the country, the business operates a fleet of over 1,200 specialist vehicles, offering short and long‑term rental, contract hire, bespoke vehicle build, and sales of new and used vehicles. Northgate Highways also manufactures and supplies Marker Post products to the highways sector.

As part of Northgate Mobility, customers benefit from greater accessibility, national support and a more connected mobility offering, without losing specialist focus.

Specialist provider of temperature-controlled vehicles, FridgeXpress, becomes Northgate Temperature Controlled and will continue to be led by Adam Naylor.

With a fleet of over 800 specialist refrigerated vehicles, ranging from small vans to HGVs, Northgate Temperature Controlled offer short and long‑term rental designed to flex around seasonal peaks and operational demand across a range of sectors, including food and pharmaceuticals. Customers benefit from responsive, high‑quality backup support that helps keep essential supply chains moving.

As part of Northgate Mobility, customers gain access to the scale, reach and support of a wider mobility network, while retaining the specialist expertise they can rely on.

Built on the company’s Customer First ethos, the One Road/One Fleet approach of Northgate Mobility brings together all brands within the group, connecting customers to the entire Northgate network via a single point of contact, backed by a specialist team.

Neil McCrossan, Managing Director at Northgate Mobility , said: “By aligning our businesses, systems, and brands under the Northgate Mobility umbrella, we are creating a more efficient, responsive, and connected organisation – making it easier for colleagues to collaborate, faster, and to serve customers even better whilst being clearer for stakeholders to understand who we are and how we create value.
