Constellation to start 49,000-pallet expansion in Grimsby

Grimsby, UK: Constellation Cold Logistics is expanding its Grimsby site. Some 49,000 europallet spaces will be added to the site’s current 17,000 europallet capacity upon completion in 2025.

The project has been driven by strong customer demand in the region from both new and existing customers who are already committing  to use the expansion’s pallet positions. Construction has been supported by a £5m grant from the UK Seafood Infrastructure Scheme. The site will feature solar power and will be 30% more energy efficient than existing cold stores, as part of Constellation’s continued efforts to reach net zero by 2050.

Anthony Howard, Constellation’s UK managing director, said: “We’re excited to see the start of this project, given its importance for Constellation UK. The expansion will help us to meet the continued demand from our customers for more storage space. The team is looking forward to the project being delivered and supporting our customers growth  into the facility once it comes online.”

Robbert Jan te Raa, VP Solutions and Engineering, said: “It is great to see the project rapidly progressing. The site’s construction has been carefully planned, and will include new technology to enhance operational efficiency for the benefit of our customers.”

Constellation was recently acquired by EQT, a Swedish investment business. The acquisition is expected to close in October this year.
