DFDS’s first order was for a batch of trailers it operates for food and drink retailer. These trailers have Gray & Adams’ Partition System, with individual movable panels that allow internal compartments with differing temperatures to be configured in a variety of ways. When only single-temperature operation is required, the panel fold  away or can be removed completely.

Gray & Adams to secured a ‘foot in the door’ with DFDS two years ago becuase of its ability to supply highly specialised trailers designed to meet precise requirements, says a Gray & Adams’ spokesman.

Gray & Adams has also previously supplied DFDS with lifting floor twin-deck trailers, and more recently with 15.65m single-deckers. These are working out of the company’s Peterborough depot as part of a Department for Transport-backed trial of longer trailers which has not been extended to Northern Ireland.

Danish-owned DFDS has been providing refrigerated and ambient transport services for full and part loads between Ireland, and the UK and Europe, for more than 25 years.
