DFDS buys Scottish haulier DR Macleod

Stornoway, Scotland: DFDS has acquired Scottish haulage firm DR Macleod which provides refrigerated transport as part of its services.

The company’s website says: “We operate a large fleet of refrigerated vehicles and trailers capable of carrying your goods whether chilled, frozen, ambient or a mix of all three in one multi-temperature load. We are contracted by several of the main national supermarket chains to distribute product to their stores. We also handle delivery of fresh and frozen produce for several national food suppliers.”

A statement from the Macleod family says: We believe that DFDS will be suitable stewards for the business going forwards. We feel they share the same values that we do, both as employers who will continue looking after the workforce, and as a business that will support and serve local communities with the high standards of service we have prided ourselves on.

“Business will continue as normal and customers should see no disruptions to the services we provide as we transition the business into the hands of DFDS.”

In a statement on LinkedIn, DFDS confirmed that an agreement had been reached to transfer DR Macleod over to its control.

“We are pleased to announce an agreement has been reached to transfer the transport business of DR Macleod to DFDS Logistics. “DR Macleod has run a successful business on the Scottish Highlands and Islands for over 40 years, and it’s a privilege that we can continue D R Macleod’s dedication to impeccable service whilst offering a wider logistics service to our new and existing customers.”
