M&M Kerr takes first Renault T Highs

Castle Douglas, Scotland: M&M Kerr, a refrigerated meat carrier, has added the first new Renault trucks to its 12-vehicle fleet.

Border Trucks trucks supplied the three Renault T520 Highs 6×2 pushers that will work on refrigerated meat deliveries in Europe, mostly in France and Belgium.

The T520 Highs were selected following experience with two used Renault trucks, a T480 and a T520, introduced to the fleet two years ago.

Mikey Kerr, son of Andrew Kerr who founded the company in 1975, said: “I’ve always run a competitor manufacturer’s vehicles but Mike Carr from our local Renault Trucks dealer, Border Trucks, sold me a couple of used vehicles which have proved to be great work horses.

“So, when Mike suggested we try the new T High for our latest replacement vehicles, the impressive specification and overall package on offer was too good a deal to turn down.”

All M&M Kerr’s drivers are experienced and have an excellent knowledge of collection and delivery locations throughout Europe, Mikey Kerr says. “Our drivers are out for up to 12 days at a time, so it was so important that they were on board with the new trucks and were happy to be out on the road in them,” he said.

M&M Kerr’s specification has Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox and automatic clutch and a host of optional extras including Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminium wheels, fixed roof deflector, roof-mounted twin air horns, leather steering wheel, comfort air conditioning, 40L “quiet” fridge, luxury insulated cab curtains, Roadpad+ and Eco cruise control with Optiroll

“To be honest, at the beginning, there was some initial scepticism about changing manufacturers, but this was quickly overcome after getting behind the wheel of the T Highs. They have seen first-hand how great they are and now all the drivers want to drive them; they have been both surprised and delighted by the vehicle’s performance and comfort.”

M&M Kerr carries out vehicle inspections and maintenance at its own workshop in Castle Douglas.
