Reyes Holdings unit to acquire distribution centres for $400m

Chicago, IL, US: Martin-Brower Co, one of McDonald’s biggest suppliers, is to acquire the international fast-food logistics assets from a Brazilian meat processor for $400m.

The transaction with Marfrig Alimentos is expected to close in the fourth quarter.  The deal would give Martin-Brower, based in Rosemont, 28 distribution centres in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East that serve McDonald’s outlets.

Martin-Brower is a division of Reyes Holdings, an international food and beverage distributor that is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States.

Marfrig acquired the distribution centres when it purchased Keystone Foods, based in Pennsylvania, last year for $1.26bn.  Marfrig said it wanted to divest the assets to focus on its core business of processing meat, chicken and poultry.
